The importance of the tongue-
Whatever is on our heart, whatever we think, and consider, whatever is in our own desires, will eventually be made known. How? some may say by the attitude with which we carry ourselves, others will say through the actions that we do, while these can be true- Jesus told us it was by our mouth.
"A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks (NKJV, Luke 6:45)."
"A good person produces good deeds from a good heart, and an evil person produces evil deeds from an evil heart. Whatever is in your heart determines what you say (NLT)."
"The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart (NASB)."

Change
A statement was made in tonight's Sunday sermon that made me think, "Our success depends on how we respond to change."
Boy did that hit me. I can truthfully say that I do not do well with change. But after he said that it has made me take a deeper look into my life.
There have been so many times in the past and even recently that change was brought to me and I did not respond to it well.
I think back at a situation wondering could it have turned out for my good? what if I just had patience and excepted the change? Could I have been effective in my life with victory if I embraced change?
There is going to be change everyday in my/our life. So embrace it, use it, don't let it take a hold of you and bring you down.
I know that after tonight I am going to try hard at not looking at change as something bad but look at it as a new opportunity that God has given me to better myself as a person and as a Christian. Just think if it was not for me asking Jesus into my heart and him CHANGING my life. Where would I be today?
Lord, I just want to thank you for changing my heart. For if it had not been for you not changing your mind and dying on the cross for me, I would not be where I am today. Thank You for helping me see that even if the change may hurt that it's good. Help me to be patient and embrace the changes that lay ahead of me in life. To know that no matter what happens, You never will change. When I need you, you are there, being the same you have always been. amen

What it's not
1Thessalonians 5:18
We have all at one time gone around complaining at what our life has set before us. Complaining about our job, no money, how our bodies might hurt and that we don't feel good. Wondering how much more can we take.
But let me ask you this, have you ever stopped and thanked God for what it's not?
This week I was challenged to thank God for what it was not. I never realized before now that what I was complaining about could have been more serious.
What it's not- is that we could be without a job, living on the streets with no home and food or lying in a hospital bed alone and dying.
In 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (The Message) says "Be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens. This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live."
God tells us to thank Him for everything no matter what state we may be in.
I challenge you and myself to let us take a step back and thank God for what it's not. Then you will see that in the mist of thanking and praising God for whats it's not is when He will come through and show up right were we need Him to be.
Dear God ,
I pray at this very moment that you will begin to remind us of what it's not. That no matter what life's challenges are that we will praise you. You have given so much to us already that there is no need to complain. Lord there are so many people out there that have only a little yet they know its so much and here we are questioning you. Lord forgive us for doubting you and for not seeing what you have placed in front of us. Thank you Lord for being so merciful to us when we can be so selfish. Give us a daily reminder of what it's not and of who you are..
Amen
